Eric Massa :: Back to the plantation

leave a comment »

The resignation of Congressman Eric Massa has juiced up TV news talkers for a few days and even stumped Glenn Beck, somebody never at a loss for words. But everybody has missed the most important aspect of the story! Who cares about naked group showers? Fat old men groping each other? Nobody, really.

This boils down to one thing — the name MASSA. Is there any doubt that the name is an outrageous affront to African Americans? I bet the name used to be Masters, and was shortened to Massa for some Rebel throwback voter support.

Google became an international broadcaster when nobody was looking

leave a comment »

Google has taken the first step toward eclipsing NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox in the arena of broadcast sports.

Huh? You didn’t read about that anywhere? Yeah, how about that.

Unfortunately for the major US TV networks, the handwriting is on the wall. In 5 years, you’ll be watching the Superbowl on YouTube, a division of Google, on your 3D LED TV.

Here’s all you need to know: YouTube executives have cut a two year deal to carry live India Premier league cricket matches everywhere in the world but the United States. Nobody in the United States cares about that, but out there where Britannia once ruled the waves, this is huge. YouTube won’t say how much they paid for the live streaming rights, but whatever they paid, they’ve undermined the value of the broadcast rights in England, India obviously and elsewhere. This is all the buzz in India.

Remember what Google CEO Eric Schmidt says: Google is a media company. Is it ever.
